Top 5 Best Top Gear Episodes That Everyone Needs To Watch

Let’s say you know someone who hasn’t seen even one episode of Top Gear. Mad, I know, but if you wanted to educate them on the goings on of one of the best, if not THE best motoring show in the world, which episodes would you show them?

We’ve compiled a list of what we think are the very best episodes from Clarkson, Hammond and May. So without further ado, here’s are our top 5 episodes of Top Gear.

SERIES 3, EPISODE 5

It’s difficult not to love the Toyota Hilux test. When Top Gear want to test a car, they certainly don’t mess about, and before long, this Hilux was crashed, drowned, burnt, and even had a skyscraper demolished over it. Yet, with plenty of reason for the car not to, it just carried on driving. So, while this was one of the most immature episodes ever, it’s also a great, in-depth review of a great car. Huh!

SERIES 8, EPISODE 3

This was possible the most memorable of all the Top Gear challenges, and the challenge soon became one of legend with Top Gear attempting it multiple times. This shows the trio’s drive to succeed, but was also hilariously funny when they inevitably failed.

SERIES 4, EPISODE 3

The very first cheap car challenge in the world of Top Gear. With only £100 to hand, Clarkson purchased a Volvo, May a German Audi, and Hammond a Rover. These cheap car challenges were the most successful challenges to date, with many people begging them to be part of The Grand Tour. We can only hope!

SERIES 5, EPISODE 5

The Ford Transit is a legend, so of course they had to race one of the most legendary tracks in the world. Clarkson, under the schooling of Sabine Schmit, a racing driver from Germany and master of the Nurburging, was able to beat 10 minutes around the track in a Jaguar S-Type. While this took a lot of effort on his part, Sabine still wasn’t happy and professed that she could do that in a van. You can see where this is going…

SERIES 19, EPISODE 6

This has to be one of the funniest and enthralling specials of Top Gear. Yes, they did actually find the source of the Nile, and yes, they did it in three clapped out old wagons. Top Gear doesn’t get any better than this, I assure you.

Tell us your favourites below and we’ll feature you in the next 5!

Alex Harrington

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
