Jeremy Clarkson Reveals His Favourite Special Episode From The Grand Tour and Top Gear
The Grand Tour and previously Top Gear has seen presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May travel across the world to the most spectacular of places. But now Jeremy has revealed his favourite special episode since 2002.
A fan asked Jeremy what his favourite special episode was: ” What was Your favourite special to Do from Both BBC and Amazon?” they asked.

Jeremy replied quickly: “Botswana. By a mile.”
The Top Gear Botswana Special was a fan-favourite as Jeremy, Richard, and James travelled across Africa in three old, classic cars. Beginning in the Zimbabwean border, their aim was to persuade city-slickers who buy SUVs such as Range Rovers, that they don’t need huge cars, by travelling across Africa in three old saloons that they’d bought for £1,500 apiece.
May bought a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 230E thanks to it being a beloved car of the African people, Clarkson chose to buy a 1981 automatic Lancia Beta Coupé because of the connection Lancia had to rally racing, and Hammond bought an Opel Kadett that became the legend we now know as Oliver.
Each car fought against Africa’s incredible landscape, eventually traversing the dangerous Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats. And while each car made it, they all needed work and repairs to keep them going. The best car of the trip was voted to be the backup VW Beetle, which needed no maintenance throughout the episode.

Oliver was brought back home and restored by Hammond, while the Lancia and Mercedes were later found by a traveller who posted his finds to YouTube.
