Jeremy Clarkson Mourns Tragic Passing Of Childhood Crush Olivia Newton-John

The Grand Tour host, Jeremy Clarkson, has written about the tragic passing of actress Olivia Newton-John in his latest column for The Sun.

Dame Olivia Newton-John sadly passed away last week aged 73. The British-born actress and singer grew up in Australia and was best known for portraying Sandy in the 1978 film Grease, alongside John Travolta as Danny.

In his latest column for The Sun, the former Top Gear host, paid tribute to the icon, addressing her fans’ reaction to her passing. He wrote:

“All week, people have been talking about how great Olivia Newton-John was in Grease and how she had the voice of an angel and so on.

“But for me, peak Olivia was reached with the video for her hit song Physical.

“When I first saw it, I fainted and didn’t come round for about a year.”

Clarkson explained that Newton-John was his childhood crush and that he was deeply saddened by the news. He continued:

“She was my No1 teenage crush. And as a result, I’m sad to hear she’s died.”

Unsurprisingly, there have been many tributes to the actress since the news came out last Monday, including many other celebrities paying their respects.

John Easterling, Olivia Newton-John’s husband made the announcement on her Instagram page, saying:

“Olivia…

“Our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural. We never had to ‘work’ on it.

“We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever.

“At Olivia’s deepest essence she was a healer using her mediums of song, of words, of touch. She was the most courageous woman I’ve ever known.”

“Even now as her soul soars, the pain and holes in my heart are healed with the joy of her love and the light that shines forward.

“Our family deeply appreciates the vast ocean of love and support that has come our way.”

“Onward Ho, John Easterling.”

Another tribute which was seen by many was from Newton-John’s Grease co-star, John Travolta. His touching message read:

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever!”

“Your Danny, your John!”
