Is The Grand Tour Over? Jeremy Clarkson Confirms Future Of The Car Show

We are asked this question many times. Is The Grand Tour over? Is it coming to an end? Here’s the simple answer: no.

The Grand Tour has been running on Amazon Prime Video for almost five years now, and with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May now turning a creative corner and focussing entirely on special episodes, fans are wondering if the end is in sight for the car show.

Is The Grand Tour Cancelled?

No. After Season 3, The Grand Tour changed its episode layout, and while Clarkson sheds a tear at this time, this was really down to his emotions behind the leaving of Top Gear, and the changing of the episode layout he created.

The iconic Grand Tour tent has also been left behind, as have the car reviews, the Eboladrome test track, and the audience, and now we’re left with special episodes only with the most recent being A Massive Hunt, where the trio drove through Madagascar in order to find hidden pirate treasure.

Despite only two episodes being released each year, or fewer thanks to the Covid pandemic in 2020, The Grand Tour has not, and isn’t being cancelled.

What’s The Next Episode?

The Grand Tour filmed an episode in Scotland late last year (2020) where they travelled from Edinburgh to the Out Hebrides. According to Clarkson, this should be released later this year (2021), but of course, with the pandemic still being prevalent in the UK, this cannot be confirmed.

The ex-Top Gear presenter said the following:

“We’ve done Scotland and I know they are saying in the edit it is very unplugged.

“We couldn’t go abroad obviously, I think everyone will understand why, so we did Scotland.”

He’s then asked what time they’d expect the episode to be released.

“I would have guessed you would have seen Madagascar in May and here we are in December.

“So when is Scotland happening? Ready steady, June.

“It won’t be, it won’t be but it could be shown in June I think.”

Will There Be More Episodes Of The Grand Tour After Scotland? A Fifth Season?

Yes! Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed that there will be “several more” after the Scotland special, including an episode where they venture to Northern Russia to play in the snow.

“We’re down to do several more, several more let’s put it like that,” he says.

“Which is great. It’s great from our point of view.

“The thing is Richard and James and I pretend to hate each other but when we get together – and we don’t get together on purpose when we’re not working – but when we do [we] immediately fall about laughing.

“And then we just laugh and laugh and laugh the whole time we are together.

“It’s a chemistry that hasn’t been manufactured, its evolved over many many years which is great.”

  1. Having been an avid fan of the three guys since the beginning these last two episodes have left me thinking is it time to call it a day , I know people are saying it’s due to lockdown yes maybe the locations have been restricted but having just watched lochdown episode I feel like they’ve past their peak and it really does pain me to say that in years gone by you could have stuck them in a toilet cubicle for an hour and they would have been hilarious . I really do hope I’m wrong and that they bounce back with their next outing it’s going to have to be something special though so please lads if the end is in sight please please please go out with a massive BANG !!!!!

  2. If there was any man on the planet that I would love to drink a pint with it would be all three of them I’ve been watching them since I was a teen and they have only fed my passion for cars as well as living your life to the fullest and enjoying all the little moments. I wouldn’t mind buying a round as a thanks! I can’t wait to see more of these three and I hope they keep these coming for quite a while.

  3. Have you thought about something like around the world in 80 cars/days that would be awesome

  4. The BBC is SO missing Clarkson, May, and Hammond. The Grand Tour is excessively better than anything the New British Top Gear and American Top Gear could hope to be. Amazon hit the jackpot. The Grand is still very good.

  5. Firstly, Pat Lalla’s comments are, thank god, I’ll informed and represent a minority of left leaning idiots.
I have just finished watching seasons 1, 2, 3 and the season 4 adventures. All episodes have entertained, informed and given us what’s sadly missing these days from TV. Pure natural funny entertainment without false computer generated theatric’s or exaggerated lifestyle shows.
Well done Mr Wilman, Jeremy, James and Richard. Great traditional TV, but now guys, it time to start planning, after Covid, a number of adventures down under in both Australia and New Zealand.
Can’t wait to meet you all when you get down under.
    Cheers

  6. What needs to happen is someone needs to put the Grand Tour down. Hammond could join TG again as a fourth host and succeed. These three wonderful fellows together have been done to death. We don’t re-watch GT or Our Man in Japan the way we do re-watch TG for almost 20 years. Even new TG being re-watched is better than any (more) of this. Tell Amazon to donate the millions of dollars for vaccines because even James doesn’t need another bike or car. The massive episode was as awful as seamen. If you want to watch a car formatted car show that is scripted for the right reasons watch CAR SOS. With Car Sos you will either learn something or feel good, or both. If you stick the (less than) Grand-Tour then Mars Needs You.
