The Grand Tour-Season 2, Episode 7: The Hennessey Venom F5

While we’re on the topic of ludicrous upcoming supercars, let’s take a look at another car mentioned by James during Conversation Street: The Hennessey Venom F5. The Venom has been around for a while already, but this new iteration looks to blow the doors off of everything that came before it.

Twin turbo V8 making 1600 BHP? Check. Top Speed of 301 MPH? Check. If you ask me, it looks like Hennessey wants to take the fight straight to the Bugatti Chiron. The whole thing weighs just 2,950 LBS and will go from 0-186 MPH in less than 10 seconds. Whether or not you’ll actually be able to control this beast is another matter, so keep it out of Hammond’s hands.

Unlike the previous Venom, the GT, the F5 will be a car unique to Hennessey instead of being based on a Lotus like the GT was. Development on the F5 began about 4 years ago with the goal to not only surpass the Venom GT’s performance but to also take on the Bugatti Chiron. Hennessey says that the entire car is new from the ground up.

As of now, Hennessey won’t give any specifics on the displacement of the engine since two engines are currently being tested for the production version. Hennessey himself did mention that electrification was not included since it would add weight, but if enough customers ask, he would be open to a hybrid or pure EV car down the road.

Only 24 units are planned and each one will run you $1.6 million. Better start mowing those lawns!
