The Grand Tour Pays Tribute To 9/11 During Episode 2

The second episode of The Grand Tour has gotten some rocky, mixed feedback. While we loved it, there were many who didn’t – and that includes a lot of media outlets. But there was one moment that really stood out to the Grand Tour Nation team. And no, it wasn’t when that gorgeous Ford GT lowered itself into ‘race mode’.

At around the 2:17 mark of episode 2, ‘The Falls Guys’, two white vertical lines flash upon the screen as they show off clips of the New York skyline. There are two buildings that are missing from this skyline – the Twin Towers.

In a subtle but emotional tribute, The Grand Tour team pay their respect to those who had their lives changed by what happened on the 11th of September, 2001.

Not what we’re expecting from The Grand Tour and the team, but they’re always willing to surprise us. Just take Top Gear for example. Hilarious, stupid, out of proportion… but sometimes the tone would turn emotional and we’d almost weep while listening to Clarkson explain the end of the V12, or the Porsche that helped him see his father for one last time.

So thank you lads for the beautiful tribute. Just goes to show that behind the stupidity and humour, they really do care.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
