The Grand Tour

What Is The Grand Tour Doing In Farnley Tyas?

Yes, they’ve been spotted once again! But this time people aren’t so happy about it. But before we get to that bit, what are they doing in the small village of farnley Tyas?

Farnley Tyas in all its glory.

It’s been reported that a car with a jet engine at the rear and a boat at the front was being driven by the famous trio. Is this thing another amphibious creation from the lunatic minds behind the show? There are a few waterways around the place like the Range Dike and the Lumb Dike. Are we going to see a repeat of the Stratford-upon-Avon hover craft?

Or maybe a new and improved version of the Toybota?

Whatever is happening up there, it’s certainly putting the general public into a state of shock, as the village was completely shut down for filming. Roads were closed with members of The Grand Tour staff standing guard and everything’s been ‘very secretive’.

Charles Rapley, the owner of a yard on Brockholes Road, said they arrived suddenly without anyone being informed.

“It’s caused quite considerable chaos,” he said. “We need to move horses and a lot of people who are trying to get in and out are having great difficulty.

““Even people trying to get past on a horse were being told no, you can’t go through.”

He also said that the detour suggested by the company in charge of the road blockages was an extra 10-15 miles. Not such an issue in a car or on a bike, but for a horses that’s a considerable distance, and more dangerous.

He even took to the phone, ringing Kirklees council and Chump Productions – Jeremy’s filming company. This ended with another dead end. He says:

“Nobody knew about this, not even Farnley Estates, the biggest landowners in the area. “We need to move horses today and the only way for a horse box to get out is to go through the village, going the other way the roads are so narrow it’s unsafe. “Why have Kirklees allowed this without notifying local residents?”

So they’re causing a bit of trouble. But then again, if it’s not there it’s somewhere else. What do you think of the situation? Let me know in the comments below. Hopefully the episode will make up for any difficulties. I’m sure it will.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
