After recent events involving an electric car and a hamster, we thought we’d compile a brief list of cars our Hammond we shouldn’t drive. These cars are either difficult to control, extremely powerful, or a mixture of the two. Also, did you appreciate how there’s a Mustang in the background of the hero image?
The Dodge Demon is, for want of a better word, a monster. 840 horses, 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 9.65 seconds, this car is no slouch. It’s also the only production car that can pull a wheelie. And you know what that means? Hammond would lose control of the front wheels. And then the rears, too.
Sorry Hammond, we know you’d really want to drive this, but we know what you’re like driving in a straight line.
ASTON MARTIN VALKYRIE
Designed by Adrian Newey and in partnership with Red Bull, Aston Martin say this is going to be faster than their Le Mans race car – and with incredible speed, comes an incredible price tag of $3 million.
While Hammond would have a lot of fun in the Valkyrie, we’d be worried about the premium of his insurance if he binned this rare hypercar on the track. But again, could you imagine the fun you’d have in one of these?
Hammond nearly put the soft top version of the new MX5 into a wall in episode 5 of the Grand Tour. Mx5s, while not being overly fast, are known to give into snap oversteer because of the short wheelbase, so maybe Hammond should stay away from this one, too.
Although it’s nice to see a car that’s not too big for him.
RIMAC CONCEPT S
This is the even faster version of the Rimac Concept One that you may have heard about recently… 0-60 in two and a half seconds, top speed of 229mph, nearly 1400 horses and 188Nm. Just tying those numbers scare me.
We’re sure Hammond has learnt from his mistakes, but maybe he should stay away from fast electric cars for a while.
There’s a very specific reason we chose this car. It scored ‘poor’ in crash tests. What more can I say?
What other cars should Hammond not be allowed to drive? Let me know in the comments below!
DISCLAIMER: This is only a bit of a joke, don’t take it seriously! We love Hammond!
