F1: Toto Wolff Lashes Out At Team Chiefs Over FIA Changes

After the FIA has brought in new directives to counter the porpoising issues many of the teams are having, Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has lashed out at other team principals, calling their behavior “pitiful” as they complain about these new regulations that aim to protect drivers.

Red Bull’s Christian Horner has previously called it unfair, and Alpine’s chief Otmar Szafnauer has added that they run their ride height higher.

“It’s just some choose not to and lobby the FIA to make changes,” he pointed out.

Wolff, telling the press that it had “gone too far”, lashed out at the grid:

“Team principals trying to manipulate what is being said in order to keep the competitive advantage, and trying to play political games when the FIA tries to come up with a quick solution to at least put the cars in a better position, is disingenuous.

“And that’s what I said…we have long-term [health] effects that we can’t even judge,” he admitted.

“But at any time this is a safety risk and then coming up with little manipulations in the background, or Chinese whispers, or briefing the drivers is just pitiful.”
