F1 Fans React To The New “Extraterrestrial” Mercedes W13 After Surprising Update For Bahrain Testing

Fans gasped and cheered as Mercedes revealed its W13 F1 car for this week’s testing in Bahrain.

It’s been quite a couple of days as teams have battled with the idea of competing with the new sidepod-less Mercedes. Red Bull’s Christian Horner was misquoted saying he thought the sidepod design change was illegal, and while this has been proven to be wrong (he actually doesn’t mind it), Ferrari has complained about its fancy new mirrors.

But what do fans think? Let’s dig in!

What do fans think of the new Mercedes W13?

Mercedes domination

“Good job FIA in allowing this. This is going to end the sport. With budget cap no teams can spend much to catch up to Mercedes dominance again. Mercedes will surely get the next 10 years title.”

Will it make overtakes harder?

“This design will have a significant impact on @FIA objective of reducing the dirty air behind the car. The airflow in this case is likely to increase the turbulent air making it difficult for the cars following it. @FIA needs to determine if the air throughput satisfies the goal.”

Extraterrestrial?

“Christian Horner about to complain that We have brought EXTRATERRESTRIAL equipment.”

Not to everyone’s taste?

“It looks so weird. No doubt it’s fast, but I don’t like it.”

Is it time for early celebrations?

“Congrats on the 9th constructors and Lewis Hamilton’s 8th, you’ve built a sexy beast.”

Imagine keeping this a secret…

Huge shoutout to Lewis Hamilton, George Russell & everybody at @MercedesAMGF1for keeping a straight face at every single interview knowing they had this monster to unleash. It’s a work of art. Here’s to another 8 in a row.”

It may look good, but does it work?

“Emmm, why Lewis cars is bouncing like a Kangaroo  while the other cars actually improved ?…”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
