The WTF86 Is The World’s First GTR Powered GT86 – It’s a 1000WHP Monster!

I suppose you could say the Toyota GT86 is a car that’s built to never venture near a drag strip. Not with the will to win at least.

That’s down to the weak but exciting four cylinder Boxer that resides neatly under the bonnet. So what does StreetFX Motorsport do to remedy the situation? Add a twin turbo engine from a Nissan GTR R35 of course.

The body donor was bought in 2012, with a Rocket Bunny body kit quickly getting molded to the bosy the year after. The stock engine had multiple hints at additional power from turbos and twincharge setups with the most power being 545rwhp with the car running on E85.

Soon, the engine started to reach its limit. So at this point, plans were put in place to raise the bar. This is where the GTR engine comes in to play. So with help from GT Auto Garage, the work was carried out and eventually the GT86 was sitting pretty with a new engine stuffed in the engine bay.

With the engine modified to fit, and a gearbox by Albins. plus other countless modifications and alterations, the car now pushes over 1000whp and will be good for ‘a bit of everything’, explains Street FX. So not just a drag car then! Here’s the latest update from the dyno!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
