Watch The Hennessey Venom F5 ‘Fury’ V8 Engine Being Tested – 1,800HP V8

It hasn’t been long since Hennessey lifted the sheets off of its new V8 engine that’s going to take the Venom F5 past the record of the Bugatti Chiron. Named Fury, this 606-litre LS-based engine produces more sound than power, and that’s saying something, as it creates a terrifying 1792bhp.

I say LS-based, but this engine doesn’t have much in common with an LS since the bright bods at Hennessey got their mitts on it. It’s a custom block, with new pistons, connecting rods, and a shiny new crankshaft The intake manifold has been contorted to allow the intercooler to sit between the plenum and the high-flow cylinder heads, meaning the air from the turbos is as cool as possible.

Yes, turbos. Two of them in fact, both with 3d printed compressor housings and turned up to 23psi. Hennessey really isn’t messing around – what a way to get 1193lb ft of surging torque. Multiply that by a weight of only 1,400kg, and you’ve got a weapon on your hands.

We don’t think the Venom F5 will have any issue putting this power into the tyres and converting it to pure speed, but will it manage to dethrone the VW-backed Bugatti Chiron after its 304mph record. Only time will tell, but John Hennessey, CEO, is feeling quite positive about the whole thing.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
