Watch A 675 Horsepower Audi RS3 Blitz The German Autobahn
A few weeks ago, the AutoTopNL YouTube channel uploaded a brief film of an Audi RS3 Sportback racing along the German Autobahn at 193 mph (319 km/h), and while we got a great idea of how fast this German super hatch is, this new video is warmly welcomed. It offers the driver’s perspective of the fast run – and several failed attempts – as the vehicle soars past cars.
The RS3 Sportback has a difficult time locating a portion of the road that would allow for the high-speed run, but eventually the traffic clears, and it swiftly strikes one hell of a speed. The vehicle reached speeds of up to 124 mph (200 kph) several times throughout the video, although the final run is the winner.
The car starts from a complete stop before entering the highway; after hitting 124 mph in around 9 seconds, it takes another 20 seconds or so to reach 184 mph (300 kph). Its rate of acceleration gradually decreases as it approaches 200 mph (320 km/h).
The vehicle’s power was obviously starting to run dry as it neared the limits of its top speed. The car has a tuned 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 675 horsepower (497 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque, which is sent to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system via a 7-speed automatic. When compared to stock figures, which show that the model produces 395 hp (294 kW), there has been a considerable increase in output.
The new video has a feeling of speed and risk that was missing from the previous one, thanks to the POV angle. The sense of speed when traveling at 120 mph is enhanced by seeing the sides of the road blur and shoot past as the car accelerates. There is nothing like travelling fast, and this Audi RS3 does it very, very well.
