Walmart Wows With Epic Movie Car Commercial

Walmart has released an advert to promote their new grocery pickup service. While the service seems all well and good (I’m English so can’t say anymore than that), more importantly to us, the advert features some of the best cars from motoring media over the years. You can watch the full advert below.

As you can see from the thumbnail, Bumblebee makes an entrance from the Transformers films, as does KITT, the original talking car, and the time travelling DeLorean from the Back to the Future films just to name a few.

What I really love about this advert is the lack of sensible driving in the video. If an advert like this was put together in England for the English market, it would just feature a lot of cars following the 5mph speed limit of a Tesco car park and trying not to park with a wheel on the line.

Thankfully, car culture is all well and good across the pond, so cars can be seen smashing their way through scenery and skidding to a halt where an obedient Walmart worker places shopping into the ‘trunk’.

The advert was launched during the Golden Globe awards on NBC.

“We not only picked famous cars from iconic movies we knew would be instantly recognizable to our customers — and launched the campaign during one of the film industry’s most popular awards shows — but we also worked with a variety of different Hollywood studios to gain access to these vehicles,” Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for Walmart U.S explained.

“This helped ensure the famous cars looked just like what our customers knew from the films, while demonstrating the ease, speed and convenience of the service and that it’s for everyone, regardless of what car you drive.”

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
