Toyota Supra Sells For $173,600 At Auction With 11,000 Miles

When you thought Supra prices couldn’t get much higher, they have. Only two months ago, an A80 Supra with only 7,000 miles on it sold for $121,000 at auction. And if that wasn’t absurd enough, then wait for what I have to tell you now.

A Supra, bone stock, with 11,000 miles on the clock has recently been auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s for $173,600. That’s the equivalent of approximately £130,000, and, completely mad. That’s enough to buy three of the latest Supras that are about to hit the market, or a mid-engined Ferrari with the kind of performance to rip a Supra a new one in its sleep.

You could buy an Audi R8 Performance, or even a small house. So what makes this Supra so expensive?

Well, as you might have guessed, it’s a twin-turbo version with a manual gearbox. It was originally sold in Illinois where it stayed for a couple of years, clocking up around 6,000 miles. Since then, it’s resided in Switzerland where it’s clocked up the rest of the mileage.

OF course, it’s in great condition, which Sotheby’s is keen to point out… but does that still warrant a price tag of almost $200,000? The world’s gone mad, and it’s making me wish I’d bought a Supra when they were less than half that price. Dammit.
