Top Gear has recently been heavily involved with LEGO, previous teasing that they would be producing Top Gear inspired LEGO Technic sets. Now, it seems to be happening earlier than expected, with the first Top Gear GT Rally Car being made available to buy next month.
With the objective of making an incredibly realistic rally car, LEGO and Top Gear partnered up to create a model that certainly looks the part. Inspired by Group B rallying, the model has large wings and blades on the front bumper, paired with an even larger wing at the rear to balance the design. Hidden by the large arches are fat tyres, and the front shows off a foursome of Cibbie-esque headlights, each branded with STIG.
Once completed, the owner will have full radio control over the creation via bluetooth and an app that can be downloaded to your phone. The app, which allows you to accelerate, brake, and turn the car, will also include challenges and achievements for you to unlock.
Like other LEGO Technic kits, we expect this to have the usual working engine, transmission, suspension, and maybe even differentials, too. However, with the added radio control feature, this may be too complicated for a build of 463 pieces.
With the companies partnerships to extend further than just one model, what else would you want to see? We’d love to see the Toybota or the Geoff EV. Yes, that would do me just fine.
