Top 5 Concept Cars That Should Have Been Made

1. Bugatti Type-6

Designed by transport designer Alexander Imnadze, this concept moulds the Chiron’s aesthetics around a two-door sports car body style. It was designed 6 months before the Chiron’s unveiling and pre-dates the Vision Grand Turismo by a measly 10 days.

As it wasn’t ever physically produced, a powertrain for the car wasn’t ever chosen.

2. Honda HSV-10 GT

Around the same time as the Civic Type R and S2000 were taken off the Honda shelves, they were busy at work on a V10 Honda NSX. Unfortunately, this was quickly put to rest but it did make its debut as a Super GT racer.

While it looks great on track, we would have loved to see this take on the Lexus LFA on the road. We still deserve a V10 NSX.

3. Lotus Esprit

Out of the 5 concepts in this list, this was the closest to being sold. This Esprit takes styling hints from the Italian marque, Lamborghini, and was literally weeks away from being put into production until Bahar left and Lotus’ new modern era was halted.

4. Jaguar C-X75

With the Holy Trinity of cars at full pelt in their market, Jaguar were hard at work putting together their 780hp hybrid hypercar. With a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), and performance to compete with that of the McLaren P1 and La Ferrari,  it was pulled.

That’s right, Jaguar didn’t have the confidence to compete so it was relegated to a Bond car chase with a V8.

5. TVR Cerbera Speed 12

When it comes to TVR, the car being scary to drive is a given. But the Cerbera Speed 12 was so fast, that when TVR boss Peter Wheeler drove the car, he was so scared he ceased the project immediately.

Weighing only 1000kg and producing over 800hp to the rear wheels, we’re not surprised.

Alex Harrington

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
