This Widebody Fastback Mustang Is Inspired By JDM Tuning

The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a legend in the automotive world. It’s not only instantly recognisable, but it’s also one of the most beautiful American cars ever built. It’s so popular, that Ford couldn’t resist its revival several times since it was removed from the market initially. With that in mind, it’s safe to say, fans of the car are rather protective over its styling, so when Brad Builds put together a render of his JDM-inspired Mach 1, I knew it might cause a stir.

By Brad’s own admission, the rendering is on the rough side of clean, but it’s still brilliant to see a different take on the modification of USDM cars. And while some of it is a little farfetched for the real world, we’re very much liking the idea of it.

The Mustang sits so low, the top of the wheel is protruding through the fenders. And the gap between the top of the tyre and the bodywork is so small, I’m not sure we’re going to get much suspension movement out of this thing. Or steering angle for that matter.

The front features a chin spoiler, and the rear is fitted with a small diffusor. After all, there’s not a lot you can fit under there. The rest of the car has been modernised with LED lights and blacked-out chrome. And the wheels, while a similar design to the original, are now gloss black, bringing it into the 21st century.

Yeah, it’s not realistic, and it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see such a thing on the road, but it definitely has got me thinking as to what could be integrated into a real-life build…
