This Peugeot 205 GTi Hill Climb Monster Has Serious Aerodynamics

The Peugeot 205 GTi has almost reached God-like status in the petrolhead arena. It may be low on horsepower with its original 1.6-litre engine only producing 106bhp and a couple of years later 113bhp, and it’s never been a brute, but it was famed for its agility, lightweight, and pure driving experience. But the one I’m about to show you improves on almost everything. Especially downforce. 

This little French hatchback has been transformed into a racing car more than capable of devouring a hill climb. This hill climb courses shown in the video are both Oberhallau and Gurnigel, and with its upgraded 2.0-litre engine, it’s pretty fast. The powerplant is an XU10 J4RS block from a 306 S16, with a XU9 J4 head from a 405 Mi16. It produces just over 290bhp at 8,800rpm, and while that still isn’t a lot when compared to other internet figures, it propels a car only weighing 830kg thanks to a stripped interior.

What’s really making this car so fast on the winding roads of a hill climb, though, is its simply crazy aerodynamic enhancements. The font and sides are covered in winglets, sharp angles and fins, and at the rear sits one of the most overpowering diffusors I’ve ever seen on a car. The majority of it is bespoke. Alongside some aftermarket wheels wrapped in slicks, this 205GTi proves to be quite the performance car. If only they would make them like they used to…

This is Patrick Hedinger´s Peugeot 205 GTi in its latest 2019 evolution as seen on this video attacking both Oberhallau and Gurnigel HillClimbs. Product of a very long development process (this was originally Mr. Hedinger´s road car !! ) ,the Iconic French Hatchback here powered by a 2.0L ( XU10 J4RS block from a 306 S16, with a XU9 J4 head from a 405 Mi16 ) Naturally Aspirated engine capable of around 290Hp/8.800Rpm, is now faster than ever having gone through a major overhaul in this last year. Not only did it gain quite a few Hp more, while still being Naturally Aspirated, it also maintained the 830Kg weight, even with the quite crazy Aerodynamic package fitted. It uses one of the most impressive Rear Diffusers seen on the Sport, complementing the front winglets and the bespoke side skirts fitted. It is quite a unique looking machine, product of one man´s passion, built to an very very high standard. And it certainly deserves the recognition form the fans…
