This Mini McLaren GT Render Makes Us Want More Hatchback Supercars

The McLaren GT is already a car on many of our watch lists and I’m sure none of us have sat and looked at one thinking, ‘you know what would make this better.. if it was the size of a VW Golf‘. Well nor did we, but thankfully Rain Prisk did – and he’s come up with a render to boot which we think looks fantastic.

The McLaren GTI as we’re going to call it looks sleek, suave and ferocious all in one – and it has got to be one of the first times we’ve ever seen a hatchback with scissor doors.. and you know what? We’re all for it.

Disclaimer – this is not a vehicle that is likely to go into production, just an incredible design for us to salivate over while the car news is rather slow during the COVID-19 epidemic. Using the incredible power of imagination (and the McLaren GT press release), we think the McLaren GTI would hopefully come with the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that its big brother has under the hood.

Now, this is where it gets a little silly – assuming this hatchback was real and also assuming that it had the monstrous 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 underneath would mean this McLaren GTI would pack quite the punch in terms of speed. We wouldn’t be surprised if it would make this the fastest hot hatch in the business with an estimated 620bhp meaning, 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, 0-124mph in 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 203mph – if it performs anything like its sibling that is… which we assume it would.

We’re keeping our fingers and toes crossed for this one.
