This Is What Happens When A Tyre Spins At 385MPH

Right now, the fastest road-legal car in the world is the SSC Tuatara. It ran a recorded top speed of 316.11mph, much faster than the previous score holder, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, which hit a top speed of ‘only’ 277.9mph. The landspeed record is 763.035mph, currently held by the ThrustSSC. Wow.

What am I talking about? Well, tyres of course.

When you go fast, you need tyres that can handle the immense g-forces. In fact, this is something that Bugatti had a lot of trouble with when it’s car’s high speed was paired with such a high kerb weight.

Now, Garage 54 has testest this theory by attaching a tyre to none other than a Lada and spinning it up to speeds way higher then it was supposed to go. This tyre was rated to 118mph, but thanks to some mechanical trickery, the YouTubers spun it up to 385mph.

So what happened? It ballooned, debeeded itself, and began to violently shake itself and its axle into the ground.
