The 1974 BMW CSL is one of the greatest looking BMWs yet, but add the so called Batmobile body kit and you’ve got one of the greatest looking cars in the world. At the same time, it’s also one of the rarest, with only 57 being made.
Based on the E9 Coupe, the racing pedigree of BMW was injected into this certain car, and being painted in the colour Taiga Green, makes this an extremely exclusive vehicle.
From the factory they were fitted with 3.0-litre inline 6 engines, but this car has been given a 3.2-litre to feast upon by Terry Tinney Performance Motors. Coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox which send power through a limited-slip differential, when coupled with its low weight, this car is one hell of a competitor for almost anything you’d find on the canyons or on a track day.
Inside you’ll find a mix of wood and leather, and black and green checkered carpet matching the paintwork and black accenting.
It’s been restored from the ground up and sits in perfect condition with an original Batmobile aero bodykit. It has muscly arches, reflective of the punch of at least 300bhp, stand proud, as does the angular wing at the rear. At the front points a splitter to balance the car.
This CSL has completed only 46,000 miles over its long life and comes with one hell of a history. In 2015 it came first place at Legends of the Autobahn, and third in class at the 2019 San Marino Motor Classic. Recently it was listed for sale on Bring A Trailer, and sold for a whopping $280,000.
Would you drop almost $300,000 on this car? I think it’s safe to say we would.
