What the world needs right now, especially Italy, is a new V10 supercar. The Ares Design Panther, which has been styled in the image of the Pantera of yesteryear, is a Lamborghini Huracan, which has been reborn with glorious pop-up headlights.
Now, the people of Earth have been allotted a production run of the Panther. For just $700,000, 21 lucky customers will get a unit of these 650 horsepower curios.
Lamborghini’s 5.2L V10 has been tuned and mated to a new stainless exhaust and carbon fiber body. It makes the 0-62 mph dash in just 3.1 seconds, and has a top speed of over 200 mph.
It has been years since the Panther ProgettoUno was first announced. The Concorso d’Eleganza Ville d’Este event over a year ago, was the first time the Panther was seen for the first time in person.
After years in the waiting, now we can finally get something fresh and bold out of Italy, other than the run-of-the-mill Ferraris and Lamborghinis we see every year. Not that there’s anything wrong with those companies, it’s just nice to see someone stirring the pot a bit.
Consider what the 2020s will look like if design companies like Ares and Pininfarina start taking Lamborghini by the horns and put out amended or completely new poster cars.
