Possible Corvette Z06 Spotted Heading Towards Proving Grounds

A video has been taken of two partially covered Corvette C8s on the back of a transporter while on the interstate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The truck was more than likely taking the cars to GM’s proving grounds in Arizona, says Corvette Blogger.

We can’t say for certain that any of these vehicles are Z06s, but we can see that the car in front is a Z51 Performance Package, but it does look like the door has been extended to either hide something or increase the size of the side intake. The car at the back, however, is a bit more interesting.

It’s covered up at the front which suggests Chevrolet is trying to hide something, but the low-quality video makes it very difficult to make anything out further. Rumours state that the Z06 will be powered by a flat-plane crank V8 from the C8.R racecar with around 500hp available to the rear wheels. It would be a track-focused variant with more chassis rigidity, a more finely-tuned suspension, and better brakes. It’s also likely that it would boast more downforce.

With Chevrolet starting production of the C8 after endless hold-ups, it’s likely that we’ll begin to see more on the road very soon, but unfortunately, I doubt we’ll be seeing any Z06s from Chevrolet any time soon.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
