Peugeot Reveals EV Concept Muscle Car And Blows Us Away

Peugeot has had an interesting history. While it started out life as a humble steel maker in 1810, it soon became a heavy hitter in the world of motoring. They created what was arguably the greatest hot hatch on the road, the Peugeot 205 GTI, and a sports saloon that rivalled the best of which BMW had to offer, the 505 GTI. But soon they became yet another dreary manufacturer, albeit a very successful one.

Peugeot are now back with an EV concept they call the e-Legend which is based on the 1968 504 coupe. Take a look at the video below.

It is, as the name suggests, completely electric, and boasts a self-driving mode where the occupants can sit back and watch the 49-inch TV screen. But is this yet another concept that won’t see the light of day?

Peugeot CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato said: “The Peugeot e-Legend Concept is not just a technological manifesto. This is the vision of a brand actively focused on an optimistic and ultra-desirable future. For Peugeot, autonomy and electric are synonymous with even stronger sensations. Boredom will never be part of our DNA.”

This is good news from a company that succumbed to profit over product in the recent past. However the car does boast some strange tech. For example, if wanted, the driver can choose to not bother looking out of the out-of-date concept that is the windscreen, and instead watch the road through the behemothic screen on the dash. Range however, a more important feature, does sound realistic, with 370 miles from a full charge.

All-wheel drive is also featured, which makes the proposed 0-60mph time of under 4 seconds more than realistic.

We can’t wait to see what Peugeot have in store for the future. Let’s hope they can bring back the magic of their golden days.
