New Nissan Z Refresh Shown Off In Hype Video

Rumors have been going around the web lately that Nissan will discontinue or drastically change their 350Z in the coming months. In a new teaser trailer put out by the company, they show what their real plans are: a new Z model, taking over the 11-year run of their current model.

In the video, we see every car that Nissan makes, drive by as their letter in the alphabet stands behind them. Naturally, when it ends on Z, we see a sleek coupe, with retro styling, in the style of the classic 240Z.

Rumour has it, that this next iteration will be called the 400Z, and have a new version of the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 found in the sport version of Infiniti’s Q50. Along with the new motor, the 400Z will likely come with the choice of a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.

In the video we can see the general shape of the two-seater, which has very nice sculpted wheel arches and an aggressively swooped nose, coming down to a pair of round LED headlights.

The new model harkins back the the ’69 original with its rear window shapes that draw the eye to the Z emblem. However, it will feature modern-day amenities on the interior, like a large touchscreen infotainment system.

Of course, the best thing about the announcement of a new Z from Nissan, is the inevitable Nismo version, which rumor has it will have 500 horsepower (that’s quite a bit more than the Toyota Supra). We’ll likely have to wait until 2021 for either version.
