New Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Is The Fastest Saloon In The World

When I say the word Dodge, you know you’re probably getting two things.. you’re getting absolutely loads of horsepower, and you’re probably not getting ripped off for it – with the likes of the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk, the Durango Hellcat and of course the Challenger SRT Hellcat being the first names to mind for incredible speed and affordability.

But what if you’ve got responsibilities? You’ve got kids to put in the back and need a big enough boot for the weekly shop? Well that is where the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye comes in, and personally we’ve been dying to see it for a while now. It’s got all the sensible bits you’ll need but it’ll also come with a top speed of 203mph.

Underneath the hood, and sending all that power to the rear wheels, is a 6.2 litre supercharged Hemi engine which produces a gobsmacking 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque.  This thing is so fast that’ll it’ll get to 129 mph in just 10.6 seconds.

Dodge have also announced that this thing isn’t only good in a straight line as it’ll beat a Charger SRT Hellcat by 1.2 seconds on a twisting 2.1 mile circuit. If you’re worried about traction issues, the vehicle utilises fender flares for more width, which means you can install wider wheels if you so wish.

Furthermore, the Charger SRT Hellcat will do 0-60 in a mind boggling 3.5 seconds. The car also has a 300-rpm higher rev limit than its successor at 6,500 rpm helped by two dual-stage pumps. If you’re concerned about it being economical, its actually better than expected considering it’ll do 22 mpg on the highway.

In terms of aesthetics, the new Charger Hellcat comes with a new hood and a beautiful set of 20 inch Lightweight Carbon Black wheels.

We’d love to get our hands on one of these beauties soon!
