Motor Trend: The World’s Greatest Drag Race 6 Finally Happened

The best part of Motor Trends yearly Best Driver’s Car competition is here. The World’s Greatest Drag Race has become one of the automotive enthusiast community’s favorite annual events, and this years, number six in the series, is no different. With a wide range of cars ranging from high tech Japanese supercars to American muscle, and European exotics, this year’s race had something for everyone.

This year the Best Driver’s Car contest features the Acura NSX, Aston Martin V12 Vantage S manual*, Audi R8 V10 Plus, BMW M4 GTS, Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE, Dodge Viper ACR, Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, Jaguar F-Type SVR, McLaren 570S, Mercedes-AMG GT S, Nissan GT-R (Premium), and the Porsche 911 Carrera S.

 

For those of you in a hurry, here are the cars and how they stacked up in the quarter mile. They are listed in order, with time and miles per hour at finish.

1- Audi R8 V10 Plus – 10.6 SEC @ 130.3 MPH

2- McLaren 570S – 10.7 SEC @ 132.0 MPH

3- 2017 Nissan GT-R (Premium) – 11.2 SEC @123.4 MPH

4- 2017 Acura NSX – 11.3 SEC @ 123.6

5- 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S – 11.4 SEC @126.7 MPH

6- 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR – 11.5 SEC @122.7 MPH

7- 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S – 11.5 SEC @ 120.5 MPH

8- 2016 Dodge Viper ACR – 11.5 SEC @ 124.7 MPH

9- Dodge Charger Hellcat – (Unofficial entry, no time or MPH given)

10- 2016 BMW M4 GTS – 12.1 SEC @ 118.8 MPH

11- 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R – 12.2 SEC @ 118.9 MPH

12- 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE – 12.4 SEC @ 114.2 MPH
