Most weeks the faint smell of a new car company will come into the office. And just like that curry you bought once from that unknown place on the corner, it seems quite appetising until you open the box to look at it.
Opening up a press release from most new companies and you quickly realise that they’re blowing a lot of hot air. But every once in a while, something comes along that has a reason to stay, and the numbers to prove that it will.
This is the beautiful Puritalia Berlinetta, and don’t let its elegant and swooping curves fool you. Under the matt finished bonnet sits a V8 engine, and when combined with the rear parallel mounted advanced axial flux electric motor, the Berlinetta produces a staggering 965bhp and 920lb ft of torque.
Obviously, the stats are rather pretty with a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 208mph. And for most new companies it would be difficult to believe this, but Puritalia isn’t joking. Next month at Salon Privé show at Blenheim Palace, they’ll be announcing the appointment of dealers around the UK and Australia in ready for the 150 units they’re planning to sell. Will they sell them? Well, I’d buy it.
Its shell is made of carbon fibre and aluminium, it will deploy battery power when it thinks it should through “auto-learning of driving style and cloud-based AI”, and to match this, the interior looks incredibly modern with several touch screens and a “fully connected vehicle control system” which can be controlled via the several touch screens, voice, or through your phone.
Coupled with a quad titanium exhaust system, I think it would be quite difficult to pass up.
