This Insane RX7 Will Beat The Half Mile Record

By now most of you have read that Rob Dahm, rotary fanatic and entrepreneur, has just broken the half mile world record for a rotary car. It improved on the previous record of 174mph by three mph.

You can find the article here by our friends, Viral Car Sh1te: https://drivetribe.com/p/mazda-rx7-breaks-rotary-half-mile-OwKDr5R3QTu6Adeszbr-bg

While this three rotor RX7 is the current hell raiser, Rob Dahm has plenty still up his sleeves. Let me introduce you to his 4 rotor RX7 build – the RX7 which will eventually take the crown. How?

Well apart from the obvious benefits that come with an extra rotor, this is the first ever AWD RX7 in the world. It also has an almost identical suspension setup to Ken Block’s Hoonicorn and was built by the same company, ASD Motorsports meaning it will be a track weapon, too.

But power, the one figure you really want to know – 1200hp to the wheels at the moment with the possibility of 1800. That sounds a bit tasty doesn’t it? And before you think it’s going to be undriveable with all the power coming on at the top of the power band like Dahm’s three rotor, he has said himself that most of the boost comes early on, almost too much boost, although I’m sure that will change after tuning.

Another name drop – Christian von Koenigsegg had a hand in developing the aerodynamics for the RX7. Very few people will ever be able to say that the legend behind the One:1 has helped them design their car. Rob now can. And speaking of One:1, this RX7 will have a similar power to weight ratio, maybe even better.

Dahm says the objective is for it to become a legendary street car. A legendary street car with many, many world records under its belt. First seen by the public at SEMA, Rob expects shakedowns to happen very soon. And I for one, am very excited!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
