Hennessey Tunes The Dodge Challenger Redeye Beyond 1,000HP

The Dodge Challenger Redeye is a serious bit of kit, even if it’s overshadowed by its big brother, the Dodge Demon. It pushes more than enough power, 797bhp, but isn’t limited in production numbers. And hey, when is nearly 800bhp not enough?

The boys at Hennessey seem to disagree with me there, though. Apparently this isn’t enough for Detroit muscle, so they’ve increased it to 1021bhp – more than the iconic Bugatti Veyron. And the torque figure is now a chassis twisting 948lb ft. But how did Hennessey go about adding power to the Redeye?

Well, the HPE1000 Hellcat Redeye kit swaps the standard 2.7-litre supercharger for a 4.5-litre unit, gives it a bigger pulley, an upgraded throttle body, and more efficient fuel injectors. The intake system is upgraded too, and the exhaust is seen to with a stainless steel exhaust manifold and high-flow catalytic converters.

Unfortunately, the high horsepower figure can only be achieved with race fuel, but even without you still get Hennessey-branded floor mats and serial number plaques for you to show off with. You’re going to need to show off with them though, because Hennessey haven’t revealed any performance figures yet. But it will certainly be faster than its stock version which pushes 3.4 seconds to 60mph.

The cost of the package will see you back $34,950, plus the car. Yes, this comes to a figure breaching the $100,000 mark, but with over 1,000hp, you certainly can’t complain.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
