Fastest GTR In The World Is Faster Than A Veyron

GTRs have a distinct following – and rightly so – as they were brilliant cars at the time of their release. Nowadays however, they’re starting to fall behind their competition. No longer are they known as ‘supercar killers’ when competitors are adopting the technology that made them so potent.

So where do owners turn to, to increase the potency of their GTRs? I’d go to Extreme Turbo Systems, as they’ve proven their worth at the Revvolution Shift S3ctor Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack with their 2700+ horsepower Nissan GTR, capable of hitting 255mph on the half mile.

That’s Veyron territory.

With the first few passes being aborted due to the effects of high altitude, the race was on to reconfigure the fueling so the car wouldn’t run lean. Once that had been sorted, the car ran a 178mph on a test run – it was this point where the team knew it was going to be their couple of days.

The competition was on. The GTR lined up for its first run and with a short shift from 5th to 6th, reached a blistering 246.9mph – just 4mph of the world record.

“Once we ran the 246-mph pass with a short-shifted 5-6 we knew we could run at least 250 mph if we could get one more pass,” said Michael Roark of Extreme Turbo Systems.

On this run however, the front right tyre came off the wheel as the parachute deployed. Just another slight issue for the confident team to fix before it was time for another run where they broke the world record at 252.38mph.

The next day the team took another run after modifying the launch control. This time it reached 255.3mph – raising the bar even further and a very joyous moment for the team.

How’s that for potent?

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
