Fast and Furious 9: Paul Walker’s Character Brian O’Connor Rumoured To Return

Filming has wrapped up on the ninth instalment of the Fast and Furious series of films, but a rumour has struck implying that the late Paul Walker will return for the sequel.

It hasn’t been confirmed by Universal, but entertainment reporter Daniel Richtman tweeted earlier in the month after seeing the casting grid for the film. He said he had ‘big news’, and that he wasn’t sure how he felt about it.

It’s been unconfirmed, but there are also whispers that Paul’s character will be involved in flashbacks of Vin Diesel’s character, Dominic Toretto. A remake of O’Connor’s original Supra will also be making a comeback but on the new A80 chassis.

Paul Walker was in all but one Fast and Furious films since the beginning of the franchise in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, where he played undercover cop, Brian O’Connor. Tokyo Drift saw the original characters split up until 2009’s Fast & Furious where all of the original characters eventually joined forces.

The original Fast and Furious film featured one of the most iconic cars of the entire franchise, the Toyota Supra. Its place on the film has become a thing of legend, and is at least partly responsible for the soaring Supra values at the moment. But despite Toyota not wanting to be involved in the latest Need for Speed game, they're more than happy to be involved in The Fast and the Furious 9.Photos and videos from the behind the scenes of filming have been released, showing the new A90 in a bright orange paint, reflective of the A70 Supra from the first film. In the country of Georgia, the Japanese (German) sports car was spotted alongside a Gurkha LAPV that will more than likely be driven by Hobbs, and a mid-engined Dodge Charger, likely driven by Torreto. We've no idea what's going on, so let us know what you think is happening in the comments and we'll keep you updated when we know.

Paul was tragically killed in 2013 at the age of 40 in a car accident alongside his good friend Roger Rodas while in the passenger’s seat of a Porsche Carrera GT. Because of this, Furious 7 had to undergo a major rewrite and featured CGI to add Paul into certain clips using his brothers Cody and Caleb as stand-ins.
