Dodge Is Wanting To Build A Durango Hellcat

Rumour on the street is there is an incredibly powerful Hellcat variant of the Dodge Durango on the way and to be honest, we can’t wait to get behind the wheel and see what this thing is all about.

As with most releases this year, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed back vehicle unveiling’s and releases back indefinitely until things have calmed down a bit – however, having said that according to a new report by Mopar Insiders, which actually contradicts the latter and informs us that FCA is, in fact, prioritising the Hellcat Durango with a possible release date for Autumn.

The Mopar Insiders report suggests that the Dodge Durango should be unveiled to the public soon, before entering into production at the FCA Jefferson North Assembly Plant on October 5th with dealers accepting orders as early as August 6th.

The SRT Hellcat Durango isn’t all that’s going to be new for the 2021 model year, as the report also suggests that FCA will also give its large crossover the same hybrid eTorque system as found on the Jeep Wrangler and Ram 1500 – standard with the 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 or the 5.7 litre Hemi V8.

As well as this, the Dodge Durango is expected to have a remixed front end styling, an updated interior and brand new tech in the form of a huge 10.1-inch Uconnect infotainment screen.

Also swirling around the rumour mill, is the fact that the Dodge Durango could also take the form of a traditional body-on-frame SUV, which similar to previous versions, uses a Dodge Dakota’s ladder-frame chassis.
