Bugatti Says No To More speed Record Attempts – What’s Next?

Barely 24 hours ago, Bugatti broke the 300mph barrier with the Chiron, wowing the world with their incredible levels of engineering. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this. One after another, their cars have obliterated records and rightly earned their place on the bedroom walls of younger generations.

But it’s time for this to come to a halt, as Bugatti admits it will no longer be aiming for higher speeds.

Bugatti Says No To More speed Record Attempts

Stephen Winkelmann, the company’s president, had this to say:

“Our goal was to be the first manufacturer ever to reach the magic 300-mile-per-hour mark.

“We have now achieved this – making ourselves, the entire team and myself, incredibly proud.

“We have shown several times that we build the fastest cars in the world. In future we will focus on other areas.”

So what’s next for the French marque? As far as we know, there won’t be another Chiron after this model and its expected variants, instead there will be a four seater and, do I dare to say it, it may be an SUV. But, we’ve also heard word of the Bugatti Divo, which is suspected to be a lightweight version of the Chiron, destined for the track.

We can only hope that Bugatti doesn’t give in to the riches of the SUV market, but like I’ve said time and time again, the resulting income will pay for the next Chiron, or Divo, or whatever Bugatti want to turn its hand to next. All we know for sure, is that Bugatti will always be fighting for first place, so let’s not turn our noses up if they have to jump some hurdles to get there.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
