The Best Place To Be When The Nuclear Apocalypse Hits

OK I’ll be honest, an apocalypse vehicle is not what this was probably intended for. But anyone who has seen the Top Gear episodes where the boys try everything in their power to destroy a Toyota Hilux knows that no matter what you do to it, it will keep coming back. If that’s the not the mark of a great “end of the world” vehicle, then what is?

Meet the Toyota Hilux Expedition V1 created by photographer Stefan Forster. He built this beast, nicknamed Ulfur (Icelandic for “wolf”) over the course of a year with help from Geocar, Hurter Offroad, and Arctic Trucks Iceland.

It comes packed with a 3.0L 225 HP diesel engine and has a cutom made cabin with what looks like a kitchen, microwave, bed, and pretty much whatever else one might need for a comfortable (relatively) outdoors expedition.

The Hilux is already an incredibly tough vehicle to begin with, but Forster has upped the ante considerably. Ulfur also is equipped with a TJM snorkel, a WARN cable, HELLA lights, front and rear differential locks, underbelly protection, and an internal radio control unit.

Honestly all it’s missing is some weapons systems and Stefan is all set for the zombie apocalypse!

When he's not spending his time writing tech reviews for theslanted.com, Tony puts his lifetime love of muscle cars to use on his 2015 Mustang GT. Tony's top three favorite cars are the 1973 Mustang Mach 1, Ferrari 458, and Aston Martin DBS.
