A 745hp Hellcat Powered Chevrolet C10 Pickup? Yes Please!

To some muscle car fans, the rivalry between a Chevrolet Camaro and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat is huge, so much so that merely owning one or the other could cause admirers of the opposite vehicle to make some serious assumptions about you as a person.. yes it’s that serious to some people.

Luckily here at Grand Tour Nation, we aren’t like that and we love each equally – just like a caring grandparent or family pet. So when we read the news that someone has put a 745hp Hellcat engine in a 1968 Chevy C10 pickup, we got very excited.

We know this is going to cause quite the stir to a few of you out there, an abomination some might say – but we are here to calm the impending storm because regardless of your allegiance, this is one serious piece of kit. Put your pitchforks down and halt the witch-hunt, this one is here to stay… no ifs or buts.

It all begins with AutotopiaLA and their YouTube channel, as they were kind enough to document this amalgamation for our viewing pleasure – take a look and enjoy.

Most of you Hellcat fans/owners will know the usual 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine produces a mean 707hp, but with this particular experiment the HEMI crate motor of the Chevy C10 has undergone some serious tuning adding an additional 38 horses to make it a 745hp vehicle – this was achieved through the wheels rather than the crank as some might assume. The addition of a 6-speed gearbox, with all the power obviously heading to the back wheels – given the fact there isn’t much weight back there, you have a serious recipe for smoke and tyre marks… we love it. All sounds pretty simple, right? Just throw in a Hellcat engine, do a bit of tuning, add a gearbox and off we go? Wrong.

Additional changes which needed to be made include brand new suspension to handle the huge upsurge of power, massive Wilwood brakes featuring six AND four-piston callipers on the front and rear, a full air suspension set up so you can drive at your desired ride height and 20 inch HRE alloy wheels with wide sticky tires were all added to make this car as great as it possibly can be.

Regardless of your allegiance, you have to admit this is a serious combination and we would love to take it for a spin. Sound off in the comments.
