3,500HP Lamborghini Breaks Half Mile Top Speed Record

A Lamborghini Huracan has broken the top speed record over half a mile in the recent Shift Sector Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack in Colorado with a speed of 259.67mph.

This isn’t just any Huracan however. It’s an Underground Racing Huracan, which means it’s tuned for at least 3,500hp with an additional two turbos and a completely overhauled 5.2-lire V10 engine. And just to make a point at how powerful this car is, even with gearbox issues and having to let off the throttle to manually put it in second gear, it still beat the previous record holder which was the Extreme Turbo Systems GT-R. That car held the half-mile top speed record with a speed of 255.53mph.

Despite the car’s AWD system, the driver had to wrestle with the car to keep the powerful weapon facing forward and not flipping on him.

“It was drifting al over the track. It was on the verge of losing control and I just kept in it,” the driver told That Racing Channel’s interviewer.

The car showed incredible performance in just 14 seconds, and we look forward to seeing it in run in Indiana.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
