2020 Mazda RX-9 is Fighting to Bring Back Rotary Power

It’s obvious that Mazda has been needing a partner in crime to team up with MX-5 and this beauty of a coupe could very well be that car.

The challenge for Mazda engineers is to see if they’re going to be able to generate the advertised 400 horsepower while being able to keep the fuel economy up. With rotary engines, fuel consumption has always been one of it’s biggest challenges, so hopefully, they’re newly patented rotary engine designs can hold up to see this beauty on the road.

Once considered part of the 90’s holy trinity of japanese sports cars, it looks as if the Acura NSX and pending Toyota Supra may have moved on, so the RX-9 may be left over to deal with the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C, Chevy Corvette, Jaguar F-Type and Porsche Cayman.

This could possible be Mazda’s last chance at bringing back their brand to the Japanese elite, so let’s hope they can finish what they started at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
