This Is The 717bhp Dodge Charger Widebody Daytona

Finally you can get those final ten ponies that you were missing from the Dodge Charger with the introduction of the 2020 SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary. Wow, that’s a mouthful.

To achieve this newfound power, the Charger receives a revised powertrain calibration. As of right now, Dodge has not confirmed if this new calibration will be introduced in the rest of the Charger lineup, but chances are this may well happen in the future. With the 10hp increase, the 6.2-litre V8 will be in for a 717bhp total.

This Special Edition Charger will be limited to just 501 units just like its distant cousin, the 1969 Charger Daytona. The reason? In 1969, 501 units of the model were built to allow its use in Nascar. 1969 rules stated that a manufacture had to make at least 501 models to meet homologation standards and so that is what Dodge did.

Unfortunately, the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary will not be getting a sky high rear wing or an iconic nose cone. However it does get the co-opt rear stripe graphic treatment. Additionally, the rear decklid will be a special “Daytona” only option, and the car will be treated to Daytona-exclusive B-5 Blue paint. Other color options are Triple Nickle, Pitch Black, and White Nuckle. Being as this is a collector car, the B-5 will be the most sought after.

To keep those unruly additional 10hp in check, the Daytona is riding on a set of 20-by-11 Warp Speed wheels finished in a special satin carbon, and wrapped in 305/35ZR Pirelli all-season tires. Slowing down the Daytona are black Brembo six-piston front and four pistion rear brakes with vented rotors.

Inside there are quite a few references to the 1969 Daytona. Both the heated and ventilated leather seats and synthetic leather seats receive blue accent stitching with “Daytona” stitched into the back. This blue stitching moves around the cabin, used on the center console, door panels and armrest, dashboard, and shifter. The instrument panel is carbon fiber, as is the console bezels. The headliner is a faux suede leather and the floor boards are covered in velour-bound mats that also carry the blue stitching. Finally, Dodge has installed a small placard inside the car on the passenger side indicating the unit number.

Officially, the car will be announced on September 17th at the Modern Street Hemi Shootout during the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Pontiac, Michigan.

Dealer orders for all 2020 Dodge Charger models open this Fall, with deliveries starting sometime next Spring. So, if you’re interested in this one of a kind tribute to the past – act fast.
