This episode is the second part of the special episode ‘The Beach (Buggy) Boys, which takes place in Namibia. The presenters abandon their tent for South Africa.

Clarkson meets Hammond and May who are in Windhoek to continue their journey to the Namibia-Angola border. Clarkson and May’s vehicles are slowly falling apart due to the bumpy road surface so May suggests that they continue off-road.

This turns out to be even worse and they eventually encounter incredibly soft sand which slows their progress. Begrudgingly, they return to the road.

They eventually stop to set up camp and with a mission to sabotage Clarkson’s buggy, he ends up setting light to the front of his own.

Further on in the journey, about 5 miles from the end, they decide to build a cable car line to traverse a river. Clarkson and May make it, but Hammond ends up getting stuck half way.

Because of this Clarkson admits that Wilman was indeed right – beach buggies are terrible cars.
