Richard Hammond Paid Himself £2.5 Million After Leaving The BBC

The fracas that shook our very souls that occurred during 2015 between Jeremy Clarkson and Oisin Tymon left us viewers empty handed for a couple of years. It didn’t however, leave Richard Hammond empty handed, who was reported to have taken home £2.5 million from the BBC shocking event.

The money came from Hammond’s TV company, Hamster’s Wheel Productions, in which him and his wife Mindy Hammond are the only share holders. They took two dividend payouts of £1.918 million and £527,000, on top of what the BBC paid Hammond for being on Top Gear – a reported £500,000 a year.

We would expect that the majority of that money went into the production of The Grand Tour and the building of the trio’s now two year old venture, DRIVETRIBE, in which Clarkson, Hammond, May, and Andy Wilman are share holders. But let’s face it. I’m sure Hammond treated himself to something nice. Maybe a helicopter or two. And an MGB.

All we can say, is that Hammond is worth every penny, and more!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
