The Supra has hardly been officially released for a month and Toyota are already teasing their own tuning upgrades from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
Again, they’re not being hasty with what they’re give away, only revealing an outline sketch of the new Supra with what looks to be some of the aesthetic and aerodynamic tweaks that they will be making available.
There is what seems to be a large wing at the rear, as well as maybe a new front splitter. And judging from the larger wheel wells, maybe a lower stance via upgraded suspension components. We’d also expect body panels featuring more or enlarged venting for better cooling, and possibly lighter wheels and a few under-bonnet bits and pieces.
Thankfully there’s not a long wait as the full catalogue will be revealed on Feb 9 just after the Supra hits showrooms. Obviously, Toyota wants to saturate the tuning market around the Supra before other brands can even get their hands on the car. This will definitely please the to-be-owners who are itching to get their wrenches on the car. If someone doesn’t do a Fast and Furious remake I’m going to be very disappointed.
Alongside this teaser, they’ve released another black and white sketch of their Supra 3000GT racecar. It’s no surprise that Toyota are highlighting the link to their successful racing heritage, something that they’ve more than likely put to work behind the doors of TRD.
With complaints surrounding the Supra’s BMW upbringing, let’s hope Toyota can add yet more of their own personality to the design with this tuning catalogue. We’ll keep you updated as soon as all is revealed next week.
