This Invention Converts An H-Pattern Manual To A Sequential ‘Box

At the SEMA 2017 show, there was a stand that hosed a rather interesting invention. It costs an arm and a leg, but I know for a fact that the majority of people reading this article will want one by time they’ve finished reading.

This fancy looking bit of kit essentially changes your manual H-pattern gearbox into a sequential gearbox without the need to even drop your gearbox. While at the time, the shifter could only be used on Tremec units, the Aussie company, Bremer, will soon be producing products to fit other gearboxes in other cars such as Supras and Euro cars.

So how do you fit it? Well, all you do is unbolt your current shifter and bolt this on. If your car’s ECU can accommodate it, it can also be programmed to cut the throttle on upshifts and rev match on downshifts, too.  Or let’s say you don’t want the shifter sat on top of your gearbox. Well Brenner has catered to that thinking as well with a remote attachment meaning you can place the shifter anywhere in the vehicle’s interior (or exterior if you really fancy it).

The unit can also be flipped 180 degrees to change which direction shifts up and down. If only you could do that with BMW auto’s.

While the clutch still needs to be used, this is a really exciting product for those with drag racing in mind especially. Maybe we should try and get our hands on one for our Lexus build project… If it fits…
