These Stunning Japanese Cars Are Going On Display In LA

LA’s Petersen Automotive Museum is looking into exploring Japanese culture, in particular, the culture revolving around the word ‘Monozukuri’. It means the ‘making of things’, and that’s exactly what this car collection embodies in their new exhibition called, ‘The Roots of Monozukuri: Creative Spirit in Japanese Automaking’.

These cars focus on Japanese car design up to the 1970s where they begun dominating the car market across the globe. Think more Toyota 2000GT than Supra.

“The impact of the Japanese automotive industry on American life is so powerful,” says Petersen’s exec director Terry L Karges, “that the story has to be represented in two parts to truly capture the spirit of Japanese innovation.”

Alongside this exhibition is one called ‘Fine Tuning’, which focusses on Japanese’s love of modifications and tuning. It exhibits cars like Mazda RX3s, Honda Civics, and the 1991 Toyota Cresta ‘Kaido’ racer.

These start this weekend and run until 14 April 2019. So if you’re in the area, make sure to check them out. If not, check the gallery at the top of the page!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
