The Weirdest Things To Be Driven Around the Nürburgring

It’s very easy to get onto the Nürburgring these days. As long as you’ve got a track legal car, know the rules, and have the dosh to pay for the entrance fee and any unforeseen dings, then you’re good to go. This means they get quite a variety of cars driving the 12.9 mile lap of the Nordschleife.

Mules, test cars, race cars – you get a bit of everything. But how often do you see something completely out of the ordinary? Say, a bus? Or a moped? Judging from the video below… quite often.

I must give the owner of the open top MX5 plenty of kudos! If I know MX5s (unfortunately I do, very well), that one would have rusted through before he pulled up into his garage that evening. But was it worth it? Of course it was worth it. Not everyone can say they’ve driven a Fiat Multipla around the Ring, or a even ladder clad white van.

This begs the question – If you could take any weird and wacky contraption around the Ring, what would it be? I think I’d go for a Robin Reliant, or that 100mph bumper car that was made by Colin Furze. Now that would be fun, even though I probably wouldn’t make it to the end of one lap.

So, what would you drive around the Ring? Let me know – or even better, tell me what you HAVE driven on the Nürburgring.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
