Porsche Finally on Gran Turismo Sport

I haven’t played a racing game for a long time. I wish I had the time, but unfortunately I have much more work than I used to as a kid sitting at the end of my bed, a foot away from my TV screen. Now, however, I have a sudden urge to get back into my racing sims.

Why has this sudden urge come about? Porsche of course!

Oh how I longed to speed down Hangar Straight of Silverstone in a 911, or twist the mid-engined Carrera GT through the Corkscrew of Laguna Seca. Until now we’ve had to make do with some other vehicle, or a RUF which was as close as we could get to a factory fresh Porsche. We’ve had the odd expansion pack for Forza, but so far the German automaker has been chained to Need for Speed. That being a massive shame because, for one it was an arcade game, and two, it looked pretty underwhelming.

Porsche have now relieved themselves of their digital partnership with EA (the company behind Need for Speed) and have now announced their partnership with Playstation. This means Gran Turismo can finally get their hands on their rear-engined motoring icon.

The photos in the tween show the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but I’m sure, as usual, there will be the full model range available to the player. No information has been given about the ‘new tracks’ but as soon as we know, you will too.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go find my old Xbox 360 an crack out the Forza disc. I’m going to race a RUF around Laguna Seca.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
