Meet The VW ID.3 – The Car That Broke The Internet

After years of concept car teasers, Volkswagen has finally announced its first model from the ID range.  Considered to be the next milestone for VW, the new ID.3 has arrived, and it’s quite a significant time for the company. The ID.3 follows in the footsteps of the legendary Beetle and the industry-changing Golf by introducing the third chapter of strategic importance for the brand.

What makes this model so ground breaking? The fact that Volkswagen promises us that this car will be carbon neutral in respect to both the battery development and the consistent use of renewable power. Additionally the ID.3 will come with a range from 205 to 340 miles (330 to 550km), as well as a starting price under €30,000 in Germany (just over $33,000). And for the first time ever Volkswagen is offering pre-booking. In fact, pre-booking was so high it crashed the website with 10,000 bookings in just 24hours.

Potential customers can register for an early production slot for the ID.3 at here by paying a registration deposit of £750. The ID.3 1ST special edition, which has been especially configured for pre-booking, will include high-quality and high-performance equipment and will be limited to 30,000 vehicles.

Volkswagen is equipping the ID.3 1ST with the medium-sized battery option, which will later be available for the rest of the ID.3 series and is expected to be the most popular. With a battery pack capable of 260 miles (420km) the special edition ID.3ST will cost just under €40,000 or $44,700 before subsidies.

Volkswagens Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand for Sales, Jürgen Stackmann said the following.

“With the ID.3, we are starting from the centre, the Volkswagen brand’s core, in which the majority of the models and sales volume can be found. The number 3 also signals expandability into the segments above and below it. We have a lot in the pipeline.”

This is a preview of Volkswagen’s new e-mobility campaign – a campaign that shows that Volkswagen is willing to become the world’s number one brand by 2025 by planning to offer 20 purely electric driven models along with more than  one-million models sold annually, all of which will be networked and emissions free.

Additionally, every member of this new family will bear the ID name, representing a new independent series of products for the brand. With the Beetle once mobilizing the masses and the Golf being a class leader in innovation for each generation. The ID.3 looks to make electric cars appeal and be accessible to the masses. With a name that stands for ‘Intelligent Design’, identity, and visionary technologies, it’s certainly making the Beetle and Golf proud.
