Hennessey Venom F5 Wants To Be The Fastest Car In The World

Everything is bigger in Texas, right? Of course, that means speed, and speed is something that John Hennessey is intimately familiar with.

Case in point, the Venom F5, named after the F5 tornado classification (not Brock Lesnar’s finishing move). The F5 tornado is the fastest wind on Earth, capable of speeds between 261 MPH and 318 MPH.

Could the tornado’s speeds give a clue into what Hennessey is targeting as far as top speed?

According to Hennessey himself: “I think something in the 290mph range will be possible.” 290 MPH “range…” does this mean 300 MPH is within the realm of possibility?

Unlike the previous Venom GT, the F5 will have its own unique chassis topped by a carbon fiber tub. Powering the package will be a V8 (The American should be happy) and two turbos.

The F5 is estimated to have upwards of 1,400 BHP going through a single clutch paddle shift transmission (dual clutch gearbox was rejected for being too heavy). If you’re truly insane, you could still opt for a traditional six-speed manual. Yikes.

So…minimal weight, 1,400 BHP, and John Hennessey’s mind behind it = the Venom F5. And in the other corner you have the Bugatti Chiron, packing 1,479 BHP.

I think it’s time for a race.
