Why Is Bugatti Testing The Chiron At The Nurburgring?

Let’s face it, the Chiron isn’t supposed to be driven round a track. It may be perfectly capable of such things, even more so than its aging father the Veyron, but it was never designed for proper, balls to the wall track use.

It’s meant for showing off, it’s meant for luxurious cruising at ridiculous speeds, but beyond these, it’s innovation. It’s the car equivalent of a letter from VW saying, “we are better than you.”

Now a video has been released showing the Chiron testing on the Nürburgring and it’s sparked my interest.

A major limitation of the hypercar going 300mph is its tyres. There’s only so much load a tyre can take, and to take the onslaught of 300mph, a tyre needs to be perfected to do so. So, at the German race track, is such a tyre being tested?

It could also be that Bugatti are releasing a more hardcore version, more suited for track use. Now I’m starting to salivate so I’ll now leave you to have a think.

Let me know what you think might be going down at Bugatti HQ, but if you’re not sure, just enjoy the vocals of that howling W16. That’s if you can hear it under the tyre squeal.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
